AVATAR AANG: did anyone else find the finale really awkward? in like…everything....
did anyone else find the finale really awkward? in like…everything. some of the plot points were amazing, like amon being tarrlok’s brother and the whole connection to yakone.
but then everything else was just… so…awkward. the whole last 10 minutes of the episode i was just staring at the screen…
I agree on the first point: the entire Tarrlok-Amon storyline from episode 11 was probably the best-written parts of… well… the entire series so far. Even then, Korra RUINED IT by saying it was the “saddest story [she’s] ever heard”. I mean, really, was that exposition necessary? Then again, it was devastating to see Tarrlok’s final decision (you guys know what I mean) during the final minutes of the finale. I have many mixed feelings there.
I also have mixed feelings on what happened at the Southern Water Tribe at the end. For the majority of it I was convinced that the entire next season would be spent trying to regain the other three elements, you know, a really interesting plot twist and good character-building experience for Korra. No, deus ex Aang came along and just brought it back along with the Avatar State. I admit it was pretty badass, but they just solved all sorts of problems in a matter of minutes.
Note: I was really happy to find out that Korra had finally connected and WE GOT TO SEE AANG AGAIN as well as the other Avatars, but it was just a bad place to put it. It would’ve been more effective to leave Korra as is, and leave it to the next season to solve it.
I respect the creator’s decisions, and they may have bigger plans for next season (hence the rushed solution). I just wish the ending was more of a cliffhanger, despite how much it would have KILLED ME.

I’m sorry, maybe I missed it, but did Mako and Asami even break up before he got together with Korra?

The finale definitely wasn’t awkward at all, maybe you expected way too much and got let down? I was completely open to...
